  5. What a beautiful family! I, too, have been married for 18 years and together for 20 -- we have nine children, all bio children. I want so badly to adopt, but tell me -- how in the world do you get the husband's heart to feel the same way? I hear it so often, that the wife gets the tap on the shoulder from God to adopt, but the husband? not so much. I have been a "regular" on Reece's Rainbow for over two years, and at one time fell in love with a little girl that I felt sure God was calling me to. I had photos and up-to-date videos of her, I looked at them many times a day for about 3 weeks, so sure she was meant to be in our family. My husband finally agreed to take a look at the computer with me, if only to appease me at the time...and after viewing and reading all that I had accumulated on her, he very gently told me no. I cried. He felt awful. But he was honest and told me that he simply did not want to adopt a special needs child. He's a good man. A good father. A wonderful husband. But yet...he told me no. I often think of that little girl, "Dolly" was her name. Little doe-eyed Dolly, they called her on RR. I believe she would be five years old by now. I don't see her photo on the website anymore, so I'm hopeful she found her forever family. But what does one do when the spouse is not willing? My heart aches for the orphans. But my husband has the burden of financially supporting our family, and he doesn't think we can handle a child who will need special care for his/her life. I don't feel it's my place to argue the point or try to convince him. He has that financial stress, not me. Ah well. Just wanted to say that I really admire your family. What a blessing! God bless you all.
